Casitas Tabayesco Lanzarote

I don’t normally like to use my blog for anything other than work but if i mention this on my blog others may read it
I have just returned from a few days in Lanzarote. We camped on the beach on the island of Las Graciosa, where it is possible to camp for nothing if you gain permission from this website

We also stayed at a lovely place in the small village of Tabayesco – 1 km from Arrieta in the north of Lanzarote.

Caroline and Richard who own the place have decorated it beautifully and are so helpful. They will give you ideas for day trips and you feel like you are being looked after. There is a fabulous view from the terrace. I had an idea that Lanzarote would be all hotels and black sand and that people only go for the sunshine. The island is stunning!

I have so many pieces of work to do at the moment I am working really quickly to get them all finished.

Lanzarote

i have just been away for a few days, whilst I really went for some sunshine, fresh air, cycling and walking I have so many ideas for some new quilts for March. We camped on the beach on the island of La Graciosa and stayed in a fabulous cottage / hostel at Tabayesco. We didnt get much chance to look at much of the Cesar Manrique architecture but I have included some images on my blogspot.

CREATIVE TEXTILES COURSE
An opportunity to learn new textiles techniques such as felt making, machine embroidery, dying and printing on fabric, patchwork and quilting.
Each week we will learn a new technique or experiment with new ways of working.
Whether you are an experienced textile artist or a beginner this course might appeal to you!

Bankfield Museum

I have had a good weekend teaching at Bankfield Museum. It was such a treat to teach in such a fabulous room. Some lovely work produced.
On Friday I taught in a primary school – Art and Science, amongst other things we made 30 felt planets which worked really well.

Burano Workshop
Saturday 16 July 10-4pm and Sunday 17 10-3pm

Using appliqué and machine stitching Gillian Travis will show you how to create a colourful wall hanging inspired by the houses on the island of Burano in Italy. Bring your own sewing machine. It would be helpful if your machine can do free machine embroidery but not essential.

Cards

I feel like I have had a rather unproductive week. Made a load of cards which seem to have taken ages so when I work out how much I can sell them for and how long they have taken not worth doing!
