New books

I’ve been getting ready for the beginning of the new term and bought a few new books. I looked at them at Birmingham but no time to buy

I’m going to be busy in the next 2 weeks so I decided to get ahead and made my September Journal Quilt – this one had to be blue and it is based on Plitvice National Park in Croatia. It is really a beautiful place to go.

Not sure whether you will notice but the striped background in made in the fibonacci series.
My flower kist are to be featured in this magazine, I was given a free copy today.

Judge's Comments

When I picked up my quilts on Sunday after the show I didnt have the comments from the judges for my Swedisn piece. they arrived in the post today.
Here they are
“Beautiful, wonderful work!”
“Exquisite details and wonderful workmanship”
“Delightful”
“Wow, great collection of embellished felted and fabric artefacts”
“Nicely combined in a fun and fanciful way”
“What fun!”
“Colourful and exuberant”

Mostly excellent ticks – I’m happy with these!

There were only 2 for the Indian women and no comments on one of them
“A good composition and nice use of difficult fabrics”
Lots of excelents and goods. A couple of only satisfactorys for the quilting and hangs well which I would agree with
Nothing in the dreaded “needs attention” box!

Exhausted

Today I feel exhausted after having such a good time at FOQ. It was so lovely to meet so many new people and to lots of famililar faces.
I have so many emails to reply to and so so many email addresses to put into my computer to send info about the flower kits when they arrive. Fiona says they have been sent so with the Indian post hopefully it will take around 3 weeks.
This morning I received an email and it has really cheered me up!

“My Mum and I bought one of your flower kits at the Festival of Quilts
on Thursday and we had a wonderful time making them. The instructions
are so easy to follow and we were really impressed with how well they
work. Thank you for giving us the chance to make some of your amazing
fabric flowers”

My studio looks such a mess and I have the usual pile of new toys and fabric
that I managed to buy when someone I knew passed by. Thanks Jackie, Davina and Shoshi!

Other FOQ Piece

I tried to find on my computer a photo of my other piece that is in the Art Quilt category (although perhaps it should have been in the Pictorial category) and I dont think I took a photo. It was all done in a bit of a rush as usual!
here are 2 other versions of the piece but not the one in the show.
