I have just returned from exhibiting my work at Quilt Expo at Veldhoven in Holland. It was a very enjoyable few days. It is a small show compared to eg Festival of Quilts but there is some fabulous work on show and the venue is good – it is located in a Conference Centre with lots of Hotel rooms and a swimming pool. It is large so just getting round the centre can keep you fit!
I met lots of lovely people from the Netherlands, Germany, France, UK, Israel, Switzerland, Australia, Egypt, and Ukraine. They all seems to be real Textile Enthusiasts so they really seemed to appreciate my work. They all took many photos of my work.
Here are photos of some of the quilts that I liked
Herma from Wonderfil negotiated a Bernina sewing machine for me to borrow for the show, this was brilliant as it gave me something to do, I hate just standing there, and i was able to demonstrate how to use their Spagetti threads that I love to use and sew people just how easy it is to use thicker threads in the top of the sewing machine. Here is some of the stitching I did on to my home made felt. I hope to cut this up to make some pincushions to sell whilst I am in Canada.
It was a pleasure to meet Tarek one of the Tent Makers from Cairo. We travelled back to Shipol Airport with Tarek, all of us carrying massive suitcases full of very precious quilts. We did get the giggles putting the suitcases on the escalators
Before putting my quilts away this morning I photographed them
It’s a great show to go to, if you like Quilts!
Many thanks to Anthea who helped me – She was brilliant at selling my books and kits. We sold out of books!
It was my birthday and many thanks to all those that wished me happy birthday and to Hilde who made the poster and hung it on my stand!
